Book sculpture and shadow puppet from my project, Ava’s House

I have been learning about altered books, and how the original content of the book can influence its new physical form. What I couldn’t have predicted was how mine would evolve. Somehow, a children’s dictionary became a symbol for Ava’s childhood memories, and Ava herself turned up in shadowy form.
