J.S. Bach: Complete Toccatas

BWV 910-917

J.S. Bach wrote this set of seven keyboard Toccatas when he was in his twenties. Some say Bach’s early works such as these lack the refinement of his more mature pieces. I say these Toccatas are wondrous in their own right. I love the youthful abandon, their spirited, rollicking energy, flying passagework, the wildness and the pathos in these pieces. I recorded them live in 2013.
